Central extended the longest winning streak in Sangamon Valley this week by beating Momence, 43-13. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Comets.
Central moved up to 74 from 101 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Brian Spooner's team climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Redskins 43-13.
St. Joseph-Ogden's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dalton Walsh threw for 102 yards and Louis Acklin had 78 yards receiving. On the ground Austin Hedrick chipped in 149 yards. Jake Stewart helped St. Joseph-Ogden's passing attack out by catching one ball for 12 yards.
St. Thomas More's Strom Joop and Kevin Carroll have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Joop has thrown for 1094 yards this season, while Carroll, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 26 catches for 687 yards. Deandre Wright from Momence leads the league in rushing with 2048 yards.
Two of the top units in Sangamon Valley will face off this week when Matt Fox's team takes on the Comets. The Redskins' offense has racked up 347 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Central has allowed only 106 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Comets take on Momence. Central is currently in second, while the Redskins are in fourth.
The Sabers took down Rantoul 48-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
