Softball Recap: Greenway Picks Up 14th Straight Win at Home

Greenway had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They never let the Moon Valley Rockets get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-1 last Tuesday.

Moon Valley's batters probably weren't too happy with Jordyn Schad, who pitched a no hitter (she gave up a single walk). Schad has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Greenway got a massive performance out of Daniella Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Johnson has posted since back in March. Kaitlyn Bennett was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Greenway hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive contests.

Greenway's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Moon Valley, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenway will face off against Prescott at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Badgers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.73 runs per game on average), something the Demons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Moon Valley, they will take on Dysart at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets are facing the Demons at the right time seeing as the Demons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
