Football Preview: Venice Indians vs. Newsome Wolves        
        
		
             The Venice Indians will square off against the Newsome Wolves at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one:  the two teams posted some lofty  point totals in their previous games.
 Venice is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup  on Friday. They took their  matchup  with ease, bagging  a  56-7 victory over Haines City. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won five contests by 23  points or more  so far this season.
 Venice's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Gata Wilder led the charge by rushing for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Another signal caller making a difference was  Jayce Nixon, who threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns.
 Venice was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 262  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've posted since back in December of 2023.
 Venice didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Niko Maldanado and  Layne Kisovic.
 Meanwhile, Newsome hadn't done well against Sumner recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Friday. Newsome walked away with  a   34-27  win over Sumner. The Wolves pushed the score to  34-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Stingrays cut but never quite recovered from.
 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newsome to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Gianni Flore, who rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance gave  Flore a new career-high in  rushing yards.  Noah Guenther was another key player, rushing for 44 yards and two touchdowns.
 Newsome has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won six of their last seven games,  which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record  this season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 32.9 points per game. As for Venice, the  victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
