Basketball Recap: Ayden Ramirez and Dehondre Hayes Secure Win for Freer

Freer made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Kenedy, but still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the Freer Buckaroos' way against the Kenedy Lions on Thursday as the Freer Buckaroos made off with a 70-48 victory. That 22 point margin sets a new team best for the Buckaroos this season.

Leading Freer to victory were Dehondre Hayes and Ayden Ramirez. Hayes went 9 for 10 on his way to 24 points in addition to eight assists and four steals, while Ramirez went 6 for 12 on his way to 13 points in addition to five assists and five boards. That's the most assists Ramirez has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Joesph Serna, who posted three points and 12 rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Freer was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Derrick Williams, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 10 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Hill, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Freer's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Kenedy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Freer wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 43-38 loss against George West on the 13th. As for Kenedy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-45 defeat against McMullen County on the 12th.
