Baseball Recap: Chapin Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hanks

Chapin scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 15-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hanks Knights. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 15-4 to the Knights when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Izayah Carrasco led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Nathan Sanchez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Carrasco wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Chapin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for Chapin: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.

Chapin dropped their record down to 5-7 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Hanks, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Chapin will take on Liberty in a tournament on Thursday. As for Hanks, they will be taking part in a tournament against Tornillo at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Hanks has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
