Basketball Recap: Peachtree Academy Takes a Loss

Peachtree Academy lost against Lanier Christian Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Peachtree Academy Panthers took a blow against the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning, falling 92-36. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while the Lightning are ranked 115th).

Peachtree Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Jordi Bello and Liam Abraham. Bello posted ten points and five blocks, while Abraham went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points.

Peachtree Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Lanier Christian Academy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3.

Peachtree Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Faith Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Peachtree Academy is facing Faith Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Faith Christian Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lanier Christian Academy, they and Killian Hill Christian will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
