Basketball Recap: Hertford County Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Hertford County had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were dealt a 72-17 loss at the hands of the South Central Falcons. The Bears lost against the Falcons in their previous head to head back in January of 2020, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 51-37 score last time.

Despite the defeat, Hertford County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Da'Zhiya Everette posted nine points.

South Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jazmine Farrington, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 15 points. Taylor Jacobs was another key player, going 5-for-11 on her way to 16 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

The win got South Central back to even at 1-1.

Hertford County has already played their next matchup, a 55-27 victory against Washington on the 2nd. As for South Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-47 win against Overhills on the 29th.
