Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Hannah Croskey and Zyah Handwerk Lead Orrville to Victory

Orrville won the last time they faced Manchester and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Red Riders came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Riders.

Orrville had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-15, 25-14, 25-15.

Leading Orrville to victory were Zyah Handwerk and Hannah Croskey. Handwerk had eight digs and three aces, while Croskey had 11 digs and four aces. Croskey is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season.

They weren't the only good servers: Orrville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matches.

Despite the defeat, Manchester saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ryley Wall had 17 digs and two aces. Danika Murray also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Orrville's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Manchester, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Orrville will square off against Chippewa at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manchester, they have already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Northwest on the 8th.
