Basketball Recap: Alexandria City Starts Season with Win Against Stafford

Alexandria City had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They managed a 58-53 victory over the Stafford Indians on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Titans also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2024.

Alexandria City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amir Smith, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 17 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Thompson, who posted 14 points and five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Stafford lost, don't look at Jackson Wallace. Despite the final result, he shot 53% from the field on his way to 22 points and seven boards. Wallace's big performance that evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Bacchus, who put up eight points and five rebounds.

Stafford dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Alexandria City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-53 loss against Washington-Liberty on the 4th. As for Stafford, they have also already played their next contest, a 74-64 victory against Hylton on the 4th.
