Baseball Recap: Mead Gets the Win

Mead lost to Silver Creek back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Mavericks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Raptors.

Kaleb Walter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, Mead let Edison Burke and Stryker Leick run wild. Burke went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Leick went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Burke is becoming a predictor of Mead's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Willie Eilers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Mead's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Silver Creek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mead will host Windsor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wizards will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Mavericks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Silver Creek, they will welcome Holy Family at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
