Baseball Preview: Royal Falcons vs. Eisenhower Eagles
The Royal Falcons will be taking part in a tournament against the Eisenhower Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Royal's offense. They lost 10-0 to Westbury on Thursday.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eisenhower). They came out on top against Fort Bend Marshall by a score of 7-3 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Jeremy Ortiz made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.7 strikeouts per game. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jay'Markus Smith was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Villareal, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
