While Heritage's victory against Norwell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Knights 6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.
Danica Fuller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Abriyah James was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Audra Bickel also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Heritage hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
Heritage is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Norwell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Knights beat Heritage by a score of 14-3 later that day.
