Football Recap: Cannon County Piles Up the Points Against Trousdale County

Cannon County got themselves on the board against Trousdale County on Thursday, but Trousdale County never followed suit. They blew past the Yellowjackets 39-0. Considering the Lions have won seven contests by more than 22 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cannon County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli Garrett led the charge by throwing for 269 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt. Garrett is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last five games he's played. A healthy portion of Garrett's aerial production (100 yards to be exact) went to Miles Alexander, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Cannon County proved: they limited Trousdale County to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Zeke Walkup for the heroic effort on defense: he. Cannon County didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.3.

Cannon County's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.1 points on average over those games. As for Trousdale County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Cannon County will host Grundy County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellowjackets' defense has only allowed 12.4 points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them. Trousdale County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
