Basketball Game Preview: Academy of Excellence Warriors vs. Rock County Christian Eagles

Academy of Excellence is 0-9 against Rock County Christian since November of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m.

Academy of Excellence is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Early View Academy of Excellence on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Warriors took a blow against Early View Academy of Excellence, falling 71-29. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.

Despite the defeat, Academy of Excellence saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dajon Edwards posted seven points.

Meanwhile, Rock County Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 70-41 win over Oakhill Christian. With the Eagles ahead 34-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Rock County Christian's win came from a few key players Academy of Excellence will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Derek Quinn, who almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine boards. Gideon Ukwuoji was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
