Softball Recap: Heritage Hawks vs. Blue Ridge Knights

Heritage extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-15 in the process. They came up short against the Blue Ridge Knights, falling 13-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 17-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Heritage saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bre Patten, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Blue Ridge, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-9. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.8 runs.

On Blue Ridge's side, Ellie Schlieper was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Schlieper has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Carsyn Stiger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenzie Woliung, who earned three runs and three stolen bases.
