Basketball Recap: Saguaro Comes Up Short

If Saguaro was feeling good fresh off their 84-61 takedown of Marcos de Niza last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Saguaro Sabercats were beaten by the St. Mary's Knights 81-41 on Tuesday. The matchup marked the Sabercats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Sabercats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pierce Harrington, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Trae Kaye, who earned six points.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 16-8. As for St. Mary's, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Saguaro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-55 loss against Cactus Shadows on the 13th. As for St. Mary's, they will face off against West Point at 7:00 p.m. on February 19th. West Point will roll in looking for their 19th straight win, something St. Mary's surely won't give up without a fight.
