Mahpiya Luta is 9-0 against Lead-Deadwood since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Mahpiya Luta Crusaders will look to defend their home court against the Lead-Deadwood Golddiggers at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mahpiya Luta is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were beaten by Rapid City Christian 70-40. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Comets are ranked second).

Despite their defeat, Mahpiya Luta saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chaytan Palmier, who posted eight points and seven boards, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Little, who earned 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Lead-Deadwood lost 70-47 to Spearfish on Tuesday.

Lead-Deadwood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Mahpiya Luta, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Mahpiya Luta was able to grind out a solid victory over Lead-Deadwood in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 78-66. Does Mahpiya Luta have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lead-Deadwood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
