Basketball Recap: Waterford Comes Up Short

Waterford played a tough matchup on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the American Leadership Academy Eagles, falling 61-37. The defeat continues a trend for the Ravens in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

American Leadership Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kannon Huntsman, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Huntsman is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Grant Jackson, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points and eight boards.

Waterford's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7. As for American Leadership Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waterford will challenge St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Waterford is facing St. Joseph at the right time seeing as St. Joseph is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for American Leadership Academy, they will face off against Draper APA at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Draper APA has won nine straight at home, while American Leadership Academy won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
