Softball Recap: Ashland's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Ashland's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Millis Mohawks by a score of 6-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Clockers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Neko Ustaris made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). Ustaris was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Ruby Khazadian was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Ashland's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Millis, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashland will square off against Westwood at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Clockers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Millis, they are taking a road trip to face off against Norton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Mohawks surely won't give up without a fight.
