Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Deming). Everything went their way against the Socorro Warriors on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-1 win. The Wildcats not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 27, 2024 (when they won 26-5).
Kayzleen Apodaca made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Deming got a massive performance out of Cristal Enriquez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Enriquez has posted since back in April of 2024. Bianca Pacheco also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Deming was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Deming's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-11. As for Socorro, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Deming wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-0 win against Da Vinci on the 11th. As for Socorro, they have also already played their next contest, a 19-5 defeat against Hot Springs on the 9th.
