Softball Preview: Fowlerville Gladiators vs. Charlotte Orioles

Fowlerville has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Charlotte Orioles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Fowlerville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.

Fowlerville will head into Tuesday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 15) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Haslett 6-4.

Tori Briggs made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Briggs has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Briggs was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and a double.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Charlotte's offense. They lost 11-0 to Olivet last Tuesday. Charlotte just can't catch a break and has now endured seven losses in a row.

Fowlerville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-5-2 record this season. As for Charlotte, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Fowlerville took their victory against Charlotte in their previous meeting back in April of 2018 by a conclusive 19-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fowlerville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
