Basketball Game Preview: Maret Frogs vs. Flowers Jaguars

Maret is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Flowers is on a nine-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Maret Frogs will welcome the Flowers Jaguars at 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday. Maret is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.

Maret is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Centreville, who was ranked 12th in their home state at the time (Maret was ranked 12th). Maret came out on top against Centreville by a score of 45-38 on Saturday.

Maret had a senior duo take command as Kennedy Austin dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 boards and London Liley almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards. Austin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Flowers strolled past Gwynn Park with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 43-29.

Flowers found their leader in sophomore Ava Redmond, who posted 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Redmond a new career-high in blocks (two). Kyla Graham was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Flowers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Maret is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Flowers, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Maret has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.1 boards per game.
