Volunteer and Greeneville are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2023, but likely not for long. The Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Greene Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Volunteer's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so Greeneville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Volunteer's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when David Crockett hitters got past them. The Falcons came up short against the Pioneers on Saturday, falling 12-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Falcons have suffered since April 22, 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Greeneville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Claiborne on Tuesday, sneaking past 7-5. The victory was some much needed relief for the Greene Devils as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brynlee Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaley Garland, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Baylee Ramsey was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Greeneville's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-9. As for Volunteer, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.

Volunteer took their victory against Greeneville in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
