Basketball Recap: Priest River Comes Up Short

After flying high against Newport on Friday, Priest River came back down to earth. The Priest River Spartans took a blow against the Grangeville Bulldogs on Saturday, falling 61-30. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grangeville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Autumn Long, who went 7 of 14 en route to 17 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Long has posted since back in December of 2024. Addisyn Vanderwall was another key player, putting up 11 points along with seven boards and five steals.

Priest River's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Grangeville, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Priest River has already played their next match (against Kellogg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Grangeville will welcome St. Maries at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grangeville is facing St. Maries at the right time seeing as St. Maries is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
