Soccer Game Preview: Lumberton vs. Seventy-First

The Lumberton Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the Seventy-First Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seventy-First took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lumberton, who comes in off a win.

Lumberton's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Douglas Byrd. The victory continues a trend for Lumberton in their matchups with Douglas Byrd: they've now won eight in a row.

Evelyn Ortiz and Linsi Campos Padilla scored both of Lumberton's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Meanwhile, Seventy-First was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Whiteville. That's two games in a row now that Seventy-First have lost by just one goal.

Seventy-First's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Lumberton, their win bumped their record up to 7-12-1.

Lumberton took their victory against Seventy-First in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 4-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
