Basketball Recap: Wiregrass Ranch Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Wiregrass Ranch waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cypress Creek Coyotes 71-68. Given the Bulls' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Coyotes are ranked 456th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wiregrass Ranch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ajayden Jenkins, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 18 points and three steals. Jenkins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Gaines, who went 5 for 11 en route to 16 points and seven boards.

Despite the loss, Cypress Creek still got an impressive performance from Caleb Edmonds, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. What's more, Edmonds also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Manuel Castro was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven boards.

Wiregrass Ranch pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Cypress Creek, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Wiregrass Ranch has already played their next contest, a 78-62 win against Gulf on the 29th. As for Cypress Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-55 victory against River Ridge on the 30th.
