Football Recap: Virgin Valley Extends Home Winning Streak to 14

Virgin Valley got themselves on the board against Eldorado on Tuesday, but Eldorado never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 38-0 win over the Eldorado Firehawks. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by 38 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Linita Kioa, who rushed for 132 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also picked up 58 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rushing yards. Celeste Guzman was another key back, rushing for 92 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

Kioa was just one part of a punishing run game: Virgin Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 312 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Virgin Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Kioa picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. Mia Bancalari was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making seven total tackles.

Despite the defeat, Eldorado saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aerith Sanchez rushed for 163 yards on only 11 carries. Sanchez's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked her sixth straight game with at least 125 rushing yards.

Virgin Valley pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.4 points. As for Eldorado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Virgin Valley has already played their next matchup, a 46-0 win against Moapa Valley on the 10th. As for Eldorado, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 32-12 loss against Mater Academy East Las Vegas on the 10th.
