Preview: Cedar Springs Red Hawks vs. Mona Shores Sailors
The Cedar Springs Red Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Mona Shores Sailors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The third road game was the charm for Cedar Springs, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took down Potter's House Christian 60-43 on Tuesday. Cedar Springs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Even though Mona Shores has not done well against Jenison recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Mona Shores strolled past Jenison with points to spare, taking the game 58-43. Given Mona Shores' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Jenison is ranked 616th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cedar Springs' victory ended a 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Mona Shores, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Cedar Springs lost to Mona Shores on the road by a decisive 65-49 margin in their previous meeting back in March. Can Cedar Springs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
