Recap: Smyer Bobcats vs. Floydada Whirlwinds
The Smyer Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. Their tough 68-42 defeat to Floydada might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Smyer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1544th, while Floydada is ranked 302nd).
It was another big night for Braun Hobbs, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 12 rebounds for Floydada. Another player making a difference was Tyrean Henderson, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Smyer has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Floydada, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smyer will challenge Sudan at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Floydada, they will head out on the road to face off against Ralls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ralls has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
