North Central AA recap Oct. 16, 2012
Beloit extended the longest winning streak in North Central AA this week by beating Phillipsburg, 32-27. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Trojans.
Beloit and the Panthers played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Beloit eventually emerging with a 32-27 victory.
Sacred Heart's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Wuthnow threw for 66 and one touchdown and Tate Richards had 36 yards receiving. On the ground Wuthnow chipped in 132 yards. Tony Chavez helped Sacred Heart's passing attack out by catching one ball for 23 yards.
Sacred Heart's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Wuthnow has thrown for 895 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Chavez has 13 catches for 376 yards. Wuthnow also leads the league in rushing with 511 yards.
A big matchup in North Central AA this week will be when Ellsworth takes on the Knights. The Bearcats are in third place, while Sacred Heart is in second place.
Ellsworth made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,818 from 9,418. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 27-14 victory over Lyons last week.
