Recap: Eagle Mustangs vs. Mountain View Mavericks

Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact the Eagle Mustangs proved on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 54-40 win over Mountain View. Given Eagle's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Mavericks are ranked 84th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eagle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Porter Wood led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Wood hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Berkley Jones, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Mountain View saw an underclassman step up: Quincy Keller scored 17 points along with two steals. That was a full 42.5% of Mountain View's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kendrie Judd was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Eagle has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Mountain View, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Eagle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mountain View will be playing at home against the Kavemen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
