Football Recap: Frederick Has No Trouble Against Montbello

Frederick won the last time they faced Montbello and things went their way on Friday too. The Golden Eagles put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 42-21 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Golden Eagles just coasted through the last quarter.

Frederick had a senior duo take command as Preston Kissinger threw for 273 yards and five TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes and Sonny Delpizzo gained 180 total yards and four touchdowns. Those five passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Kissinger. Reno Digesualdo also deserves some recognition as he hauled in his first receiving touchdown of the season.

Frederick's defense made their presence known, laying out Angel Chavez. three times. Landon Olson refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by himself.

Montbello's loss came despite strong showings from Chavez and Amari Williams. Chavez threw for 231 yards and one touchdown while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt, while Williams gained 96 total yards.

The win made it two in a row for Frederick and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.0 points over those games. As for Montbello, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Frederick will square off against Thornton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles will be up against the Trojans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Montbello, they will host Denver East at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
