Basketball Recap: Concord Skates Past South Rowan with Ease

Concord won the last time they faced South Rowan and things went their way on Friday too. The Concord Spiders took their match with ease, bagging a 77-45 victory over the South Rowan Raiders. The Spiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Concord to victory were Jayden Beyan and Tyvonta Rushmeyer. Beyan went 7 of 9 en route to 19 points along with five assists and five boards, while Rushmeyer went 5 for 8 on his way to 20 points and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Beyan a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Jaden Reid, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Concord smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Concord's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for South Rowan, their loss was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-17.

Concord will welcome Lake Norman Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Norman Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matches -- so hopefully Concord likes a good challenge. South Rowan has already played their next contest (against Northwest Cabarrus), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
