Preview: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Murray Spartans
The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Murray Spartans at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Maple Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
Maple Mountain has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 30 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 60-30 win over Timpanogos on the road.
Jaynee Tanner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with 8 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Liesel Hansen was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Murray had just enough and edged Provo out 54-51 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Murray.
Murray got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mia Auclaire out in front who scored 21 points. The match was Auclaire's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Davies, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds.
The losses dropped Maple Mountain to 5-1 and Timpanogos to 2-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's game: Maple Mountain have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.5% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Murray, though, as they've only drained 31% of theirs this season. Given Maple Mountain's sizeable advantage in that area, Murray will need to find a way to close that gap.
