Softball Preview: Champlin Park Rebels vs. Andover Huskies

Champlin Park is 7-2 against Andover since May of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Champlin Park Rebels will be playing at home against the Andover Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Champlin Park earned a 4-1 victory over Robbinsdale Armstrong.

Meanwhile, Andover took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (and then some). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Totino-Grace a 16-0 shutout.

Morgan Kostecka made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kostecka was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Laci Heppell and Megan Surgenor did most of the damage at the plate: Heppell scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Surgenor went 2-for-4 with four RBI, a run, and a double. Chloe Brown was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Champlin Park's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. As for Andover, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
