Basketball Recap: New Summerfield Hornets vs. Mt. Enterprise Wildcats
New Summerfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They fell 57-49 to the Mt. Enterprise Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-46 back in December of 2024.
Tanner Wilburn had an outrageously good game for Mt. Enterprise as he went 9 for 13 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Those 20 points gave Wilburn a new career-high. Kaegan Ash was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.
New Summerfield's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Mt. Enterprise, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Summerfield will take on Douglass at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglass will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something New Summerfield surely won't give up without a fight. Mt. Enterprise has already played their next contest (against Cushing), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
