Basketball Game Preview: Spartanburg Vikings vs. Wade Hampton Generals

Spartanburg is 2-8 against Wade Hampton since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Spartanburg Vikings will host the Wade Hampton Generals at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Spartanburg took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 64-56 victory over Gaffney. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Wade Hampton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Eastside, falling 81-57.

Spartanburg pushed their record up to 7-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Wade Hampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Things could have been worse for Spartanburg, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-43 loss to Wade Hampton in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Spartanburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
