Recap: Mattamuskeet Lakers vs. Southside Seahawks
The Mattamuskeet Lakers lost against the Southside Seahawks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mattamuskeet was dealt a 65-12 defeat at the hands of Southside. Mattamuskeet has not had much luck with Southside recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Leading Southside to victory were Tamya Smith and I'Kiriyah Minor. Smith scored 11 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals, while Minor scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds. The matchup was Minor's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Janayica Jones, who scored 10 points.
Mattamuskeet's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Southside, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mattamuskeet will square off against Eastern Christian HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Eastern Christian HomeSchool is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Southside won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Rosewood at 6:00 p.m. on December 6th. Rosewood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Southside is ranked 149th).
