Football Recap: Highland Park Scots vs. Pittsburg Dragons

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Highland Park can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Pittsburg Dragons at home and fell 49-18. While losing is never fun, the Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Dragons are ranked 50th).

Despite the loss, Highland Park saw an underclassman step up: sophomore G?Honi Montgomery rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.

Stone Peery was his usual excellent self, rushing for 266 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries for Pittsburg. The dominant performance gave Peery a new career-high in rushing yards. Carsen Nickelson also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Highland Park's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3. As for Pittsburg, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

As of now, neither Highland Park nor Pittsburg have any future games scheduled.
