Deer Valley is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Lake Havasu is on a four-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Skyhawks will host the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Deer Valley has given up an average of 27.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Deer Valley is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Chaparral on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Skyhawks came up short against the Firebirds, falling 45-21. The Skyhawks were down 45-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Deer Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Coleston Paxton, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one touchdown, and Brody Keith, who picked up 73 receiving yards and one TD. Paxton really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 70 yards. Gavin Youngker was another key player, having thrown for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Cole Jenovai for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Deer Valley; they were averaging 4.1yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three matchups they've fallen to only 1.9 per game.
Meanwhile, Lake Havasu strolled past Buckeye with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 44-28.
Deer Valley better keep an eye on Luke Johnson. He was instrumental in Lake Havasu's win, picking up 164 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in three TDs on the ground. Those 164 receiving yards gave Johnson a new career-high. Tristin Andrade was another key player, rushing for 118 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.
Lake Havasu's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. In that department, Owen Merrill was the leader with 2.5 sacks.
Deer Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Lake Havasu, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Deer Valley was taken down by Lake Havasu 63-21 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can the Skyhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
