Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westover). They walked away with an 80-71 victory over the Union Pines Vikings on Tuesday. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered a 61-55 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Westover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from James Payton, who went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Demarious Hall, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 17 points.

Union Pines lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Treshaun Core, who went 8-for-15 en route to 22 points and five boards. He also put up a block, which was his first of the season. Wesley Bailey was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 15 points.

Westover picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Union Pines, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Westover will square off against Richmond Senior at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Union Pines, they will face off against Montgomery Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
