Baseball Recap: Jefferson Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Jefferson finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Brackenridge Eagles by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 back in March.

Jefferson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Urdiales, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Urdiales has become a key player for the Mustangs: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

The defeat snapped Jefferson's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-12 record. As for Brackenridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Jefferson is set to challenge their familiar foe Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 3.8, the Golden Bears 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Brackenridge will take on rival Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
