Softball Game Preview: Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders vs. Seminole Warhawks

The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders will venture away from home to face off against the Seminole Warhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clearwater Central Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Clearwater Central Catholic will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Admiral Farragut on Wednesday. The Marauders came out on top against the BlueJackets by a score of 16-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Marauders in their matchups with the BlueJackets: they've now won three in a row.

Emma Carollo and Sophia Negron did most of the damage at the plate: Carollo went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Negron went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Carollo a new career-high. Kaelyn Foubister was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Clearwater Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Seminole and Northeast, and Northeast kept the tradition alive. The Warhawks lost 9-2 to the Vikings on Tuesday.

Seminole saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaydin Whitenton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Clearwater Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Seminole, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10.

Clearwater Central Catholic beat Seminole 4-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Marauders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
