Baseball Recap: Foley Gets the Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Foley challenged Childersburg on Wednesday. The Lions came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 11-7.

Anthony Leverette spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, William Quarles was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Daigle, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Foley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Foley's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Childersburg, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Looking ahead, Foley will look to defend their home field on Saturday against McGill-Toolen at 11:00 a.m. As for Childersburg, they will challenge Horseshoe Bend at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
