Lake Travis is a perfect 7-0 against Akins since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cavaliers will welcome the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Travis has eight straight wins, Akins has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lake Travis is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Texas' top teams: Westlake, who was ranked 11th at the time (Lake Travis was ranked fifth). The Cavaliers were the clear victors by a 31-10 margin over the Chaparrals on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won six contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Lake Travis got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Vann Hopping out in front who rushed for 150 yards and one TD while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also caught one touchdown. Another pass catcher making a difference was Westin Smith, who picked up 136 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Akins played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Bowie 55-12. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.

Akins' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Lake Travis, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.

Everything came up roses for Lake Travis against Akins in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 51-0 victory. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
