Basketball Recap: Union County Yellowjackets vs. Chapman Panthers
Union County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 54-35 to the Chapman Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-28 back in January.
Chapman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Annastyn Smith led the charge by putting up eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. What's more, Smith also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rylan Ivey, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and five steals.
Union County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Chapman, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Union County has already played their next matchup (against Greer Middle College), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Chapman, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 46-28 win against Woodruff on the 7th.
