Softball Recap: Tough Loss for Howard

Howard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss. They lost 10-2 to the Rutland Hurricanes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 28-15 on August 12th.

For Rutland's part, they let Ava Bean and Heather Benson run wild. Bean went 1-for-2 while posting 2 runs, 1 stolen base, and 1 RBI, while Benson got on base in two of her three plate appearances while posting 2 stolen bases, 2 runs, and 1 walk. Benson has also been pretty much perfect as far as strikeouts are concerned: she hasn't struck out any for seven straight games.

Howard has now lost 15 of their last 16 games on the road. That leaves them at an 0-19 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-0 Peach County and 4-0 Warner Robins (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 89% over those games). As for Rutland, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-16 record.
