Basketball Recap: Freedom Triumphs

Freedom can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They escaped with a win against the Pittsburg Pirates by the margin of a single free throw, 64-63. The win was all the more spectacular given the Falcons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 570th, while the Pirates are ranked 251st).

Despite the loss, Pittsburg still got an impressive performance from Jermaine Earnest, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 16 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kahlil Bernard, who went 6 of 9 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.

Freedom's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-12. As for Pittsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Freedom wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 95-44 defeat against Dublin on the 11th. As for Pittsburg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-51 win against Clayton Valley Charter on the 11th.
