Baseball Game Preview: Winnetonka Griffins vs. Smithville Warriors

Winnetonka is 1-7 against Smithville since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Griffins will challenge the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Winnetonka took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Grandview by a score of 5-2.

Meanwhile, Smithville came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Tigers 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Winnetonka's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Smithville, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-3.

Winnetonka couldn't quite finish off Smithville in their previous meeting last Monday and fell 6-4. Can the Griffins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
