Softball Recap: Mica Mountain Gets the Win

Mica Mountain proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 15) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Marana Tigers 7-6. The Thunderbolts haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Acelynn-Rose Heston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shaylee Fuell was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Dezeree Lopez Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Mica Mountain hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Mica Mountain now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Marana, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-1.

Mica Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against Canyon del Oro on the 28th. As for Marana, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-2 loss against Walden Grove on the 28th.
